Since tourmaline is less potent than emerald, larger sizes are recommended to achieve the best astrological results.
Green tourmaline may undergo minimal heat treatment, so low that it does not alter the stone’s natural structure. This treatment is undetectable in standard laboratory testing, so certification cannot confirm whether a stone has been heated or not. Industry practice assumes all tourmaline has been lightly treated. Importantly, this does not affect its astrological properties, as the gem’s structure remains intact and fully effective for Jyotish purposes.
