About Libra rising
Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac, an air sign of balance, relationships, beauty, diplomacy, and cooperation. Libra rising people are usually socially aware, care a lot about fairness, and notice the quality of their surroundings. Venus rules Libra. It’s the planet of relationships, beauty, creativity, refinement, comfort, and enjoyment of life. For a Libra ascendant, Venus rules your 1st house (you: your body, identity, appearance, and overall direction) and your 8th house (transformation, longevity, hidden knowledge, and deep spiritual work).

What to look for in a Jyotish diamond
- Natural and untreated
- At least 1 carat
- G color or higher, VS1 clarity or higher
- A very good to excellent cut, and no fluorescence
- GIA certified. Lab grown, synthetic, and poor quality diamonds don’t work for Jyotish.
- Set open-backed, so light passes through and the stone lightly touches your skin

White sapphire
White sapphire is the Venus uparatna I recommend most for Libra rising. (An uparatna is a substitute gem. It strengthens the same planet as the primary gem and carries the same astrological meanings, usually with a milder effect.)
Fine natural, untreated white sapphire is actually rarer than diamond, and it’s almost as strong astrologically. It strengthens Venus just like diamond does, often for less than a comparable Jyotish diamond.
For Jyotish, it should be natural, untreated, transparent, well cut, and very fine quality.
Phenakite & white topaz
Phenakite and white topaz are two more Venus uparatnas. People usually choose them because they’re more affordable than diamond or white sapphire. Their effect is gentler, so we offer them in larger sizes.
Phenakite is one of our favorites. It’s lesser known, but our customers report great results with it.
Other gems for Libra
Blue sapphire (for Saturn) and emerald (for Mercury) are also important in many Libra charts.
Blue sapphire
Saturn rules your 4th house (home, emotional peace, and inner security) and your 5th house (intelligence, creativity, and good karmic potential). That makes Saturn a yogakaraka (especially good) planet for Libra, and in some charts blue sapphire is the more important gem.
It can support stability, discipline, emotional grounding, concentration, and steady long-term achievement.
Emerald
Mercury rules your 9th house (dharma, teachers, and higher knowledge) and your 12th house (foreign places, expenses, and moksha).
Emerald can support communication, learning, discernment, spiritual study, and useful foreign connections. Whether it’s right for you depends on where Mercury sits in your chart.
Gems to avoid: yellow sapphire, red coral, pearl, and ruby are usually not good for Libra rising, unless your chart gives a specific reason to wear one.
